Various types of motor vehicles ply on the streets of big cities and produce different kinds of harmful gases. Mills and factories also produce smoke, fume and several harmful gases. Open dumping and dead animals were thrown in the open space also pollute the air. To minimize air pollution, we must raise awareness among the public. Smoke is one of the most common agents that pollute the air. Man makes fires to cook food, make bricks, and melt tar, for road construction and to do many other things. Fires create smoke and pollute the air. Railway engines and powerhouses create smoke by burning coal and oil. People burn trash to get rid of them. Mills and factories also belch a lot of smoke. Buses, trucks, and cars use petrol and diesel oil. These too emit smoke. All these kinds of smoke pollute the air. In addition to the pollution caused by all kinds of automobiles in general, vehicles with 2-stroke engine produce fatal carbon monoxide gas, which is very dangerous for our health. 6. Why should we keep our environment free from pollution?

Answer: Air pollution means the contamination of air by smoke, harmful gases, dust, etc. Air is a very important element of our environment. No creature can live without air. It is the life-giving force. Clean air is essential for life but polluted air is very harmful. Air can be polluted in many ways. The most common agent that pollutes air is smoke. Smoke is produced when we cook food, burn bricks and refuse. It is also produced when we melt pitch for road construction AIM. Innumerable buses, trucks, and cars plying in big cities use petrol, diesel, and oil. When these fuels are burnt; they create smoke and pollute the air. Mills and factories in large industrial areas also cause serious air pollution. Railway engines and powerhouses also pollute the air. However, it is really very difficult to prevent air pollution, but it is possible to reduce its quantity. We can make less use of motor vehicles and avoid the use of vehicles older than 20 years. Again, we can try to increase the use of solar energy, which does not pollute the air. Moreover, we have to stop cutting down trees in large numbers because trees absorb the poisonous carbon gases from the atmosphere and keep the environment good. So, to ensure a healthier and happier life we must control air pollution.
