Answer: The 8th March is observed as the International Women’s Day. It was first observed by a declaration by the socialist party of America on February 28, 1909, as National Women’s Day across the United States. Accordingly, in 1910, the Socialist International meeting was held in Copenhagen. As per the resolution of the meeting. International Women’s Day was decided to be observed to establish the rights of women. The proposal was accepted by the conference of over 100 women from 17 countries. But no date for observing the day was fixed. As per the decision of the conference held in the previous year in Copenhagen, International Women’s Day was marked on March 19, as an international Women’s Day in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. On this day more than one million men and women attended rallies. In addition to the right to franchise, the equal right to a job was demanded. Now the 8 March is observed all over the world by various groups of women’s organizations to fulfill their demands for equal social, economic, political, and cultural rights.
