Answer: Beliefs, values customs, conventions occupations, language, and land are the main elements of culture. Bangladeshis can rightly boast of a rich cultural heritage. We have our own language, ways of behavior, notions of good and bad, music and social customs which build up our culture. We have songs based on rural and idyllic pictures of life. We have jari, sari, bhatiali, polligiti, religious and mystic songs, and local jatrapala etc. We have our own food habits like eating rice and fish. We have our traditional dress like a lungi, shirt, saree, and blouse. Although we have very old cultural heritage it has been changing by the influence of the culture of India and other western countries. This dish-antenna culture is engulfing our traditional culture. Our young ‘people are no longer interested in our folk or idyllic songs. They are fascinated by Hindi or English music. In dress also, people are influenced by cultures of other countries. This deterioration is a matter of great regret for us. We should be conscious of our own culture and preserve it from the cultural assault of foreign countries.
